Our Story
Faithful through every season
From humble beginnings to a thriving congregation, our story reflects God's faithfulness and the dedication of generations who have called Wilson's Mills Church of God home.
The Wilson's Mills Church of God was first organized in the old Wilson's Mills post office on January 21, 1979. Under the direction of Reverend Alton Mozingo, and his wife, Joyce, the church was founded with nine charter members. As the congregation began to grow, the church transitioned to the former Women's Club building at 654 Main Street, and then again to the new sanctuary in February of 1987.
Shortly after the final transition, on March 22, 1987, Reverend Alton Mozingo went home to be with the Lord. Following Reverend Mozingo's unexpected passing, Bishop Larry Hunt was appointed to pastor the Wilson's Mills Church of God.
Under new leadership came a season of new growth. As God began to pour his blessings out upon the local congregation, the vision of a new church was birthed into the spirit of Pastor Hunt. On September 19, 2004, that vision came to pass as the Wilson's Mills Church of God celebrated their first service at their new, and current, location: 4869 Wilson's Mills Road.
Today the Wilson's Mills Church of God continues as a thriving Pentecostal church in the heart of Eastern North Carolina.
